About the Website Design

a place to build my author platform

KiraButler.com is the heart of my author platform. Using the website to focus building market interest in my career as a horror and dark fantasy writer for young adults, it’s a portfolio of written work, a place to share news with fans of the genre, and a vehicle for generating interest in the topics I write about. It’s a strange and curious venue, where the fantastic is made possible. This was its second iteration.

Website Design for KiraButler.com, YA Author

My writing practice is heavily influenced by a fascination with the paranormal, the arcane, and the historic. KiraButler.com strives to marry technology and creative influence: it is situated as the website of a writer fascinated with horror, fantasy, taphology, and historical fiction, but also has room to grow into other fields of interest as they present themselves.

I wanted to include room for biographical information, future book releases, and offer a dedicated space for my blog. Through the process, I’ve learned to tailor my content to an ever-growing audience. I’m excited to eventually include a dedicated web store for merchandise and self-published works.

As a horror writer who produces novels for young adult readers, I wanted the branding to represent my ties to gothic and folk literary traditions as they influence my practice. The typewriter is my craft and my link to the past, and the tiny batwings represent the people I want to speak to (young horror fans.)

Kelly Creagh Author Website Design

Kelly Creagh Author Website Design

The website for young adult author, Kelly Creagh, draws inspiration from works of Edgar Allen Poe. Her “Nevermore” trilogy of books embrace Poe’s lore wholeheartedly, and it was fitting that the fantasy world inspired the site.

Jessica Verday Author Website Design

Jessica Verday Author Website Design

The promotional website for Jessica Verday’s debut novel, The Hollow, was designed with a young adult audience in mind. As the book trilogy has gothic undertones, we chose a layered aesthetic structured like an item owned by the protagonist of the series.

Kira Butler Author Brand Design

The brand mark for horror writer, Kira Butler, incorporates a vintage 1920 Corona typewriter and baby batwings into the logo’s design: blending her love of writing historically-rooted fiction and dark fiction for young adults. The design has been applied to stationary and is predominantly featured on her author website.
